![]() ![]() There is also Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, a village famous for its monuments (Abbatiale Saint-Pierre and Chapelle des Pénitents), its river, its flowery and wooded landscapes, and its numerous activities such as the strawberry festival or the festival of the Holy Bodies (a religious event that commemorates Saints Prime and Félicien, two martyred brothers who are said to have endowed Beaulieu with a miraculous spring).Īmong the four, also, Rocamadour: located near the Périgord and the Dordogne valley, the small village of the Lot is composed of winding streets and guarded by a trio of fortified doors. First, there is Bergheim, a medieval town on the border of upper and lower Alsace, with its ramparts, its church, its thousand-year-old lime tree below which popular festivals have been held since 1300, and its sundial from the beginning of the 18th century with the inscription “ Sicut umbra fugit vita” (“Like a shadow flees life”). In June 2022, four new French medieval villages joined the precious selection. ![]() ![]() Four new villages awarded the “Most Beautiful Villages in France” label After adding five new villages to the list at the beginning of the year – Cordes-sur-Ciel (Tarn), Châtillon-en-Diois (Drôme), Le Malzieu-Ville (Lozère), Polignac (Haute-Loire) and Tournon-d’Agenais (Lot-et-Garonne) – the association has just announced the addition of four others. The list of the “ Most Beautiful Villages in France” now includes 168 villages in 70 departments. ![]()
